Structural: Investigative Engineer

Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for an experienced structural engineer to join our Existing Building Services group in the Lakewood, Colorado office. We are seeking to add a structural engineer who will work for various project managers on different project types within the investigative team. The successful candidate will primarily work with our fall protection and façade access system team with opportunities to also gain expertise in other areas of investigative engineering including: forensic analysis, historic preservation, non-destructive testing, seismic retrofit, repair and remodel work.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of engineers and technicians who work on many interesting and challenging investigative projects. He/she will develop expertise in a broad range of investigative engineering as well as be exposed to structural steel, concrete, masonry, and wood construction for investigative projects in and around the Rocky Mountain region.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, with an emphasis on structures (Master’s degree strongly preferred)
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive structural engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado or able to obtain within 1 year
  • Strong knowledge of building and design codes
  • Strong background and understanding of computer analysis and design software
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time
  • Strong work ethic
  • Demonstrates commitment to continued personal growth and development in all aspects of their work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to perform field work including building documentation, investigation, and fall protection load testing

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to design, detail, coordinate, and model small to medium-sized projects
  • Completed several remodel/addition/tenant improvement projects
  • Competent in the use of Revit or Autocad for producing engineering drawings

Structural Steel Detailing Technician

Martin/Martin is looking for a Steel Detailing Technician to join our Construction Engineering Services Team in the Lakewood, Colorado office. The position will provide opportunities to work on structures throughout the Front Range of Colorado & national locations in markets such as healthcare, commercial office, sports & entertainment, and education. Martin/Martin is the leading civil/structural engineering consulting firm in the region. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a program in building information modeling/design technology/drafting from an accredited technical institute, two-year junior college, or at least two years of equivalent industry related experience
  • Expertise in Autodesk 3D AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2, Autodesk Advance Steel, or Autodesk Revit
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural plans and details
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time
  • Committed to client service and a team-based approach

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Autodesk Advance Steel a plus
  • Experience detailing steel stairs a plus
  • Experience in Tekla Structures or SDS/2
  • Experience checking structural steel shop drawings
  • Detailing, BIM, construction, or structural steel or cold-formed steel detailing experience
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of structural steel systems and construction details
  • Drafting, BIM, construction, or architectural design experience
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of structural systems and construction details

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, with an emphasis on structures
  • Demonstrated ability to design, detail, coordinate, and model projects
  • Completed many new projects as well as remodel/addition/tenant improvement projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, clients, and staff
  • Desire to take part in marketing and business development activities
  • Knowledge of investigative engineering and tools and the ability to diagnose problems and develop creative solutions
  • Strong knowledge of M/M standards and culture

Our Studio is looking for someone who has 2-5 years of practical experience as a structural engineer specializing in buildings, after having achieved either a Bachelors or Masters in Structural, Civil or Architectural Engineering.  Experience in steel, concrete, timber and masonry design is essential.  We will teach you how to design with aluminum, stainless steel, cables, glass, carbon fiber, plastic composites, and other non-traditional materials.  Applicants with a passion for architecture and design are preferred – the desire to be part of a creative team is a must.  REVIT Structure experience is essential.
